Uptown Yolk reopens in South End


Uptown Yolk, a concept from Greg and Subrina Collier, the creators of BayHaven Food Wine & Wine Festival, which highlights Black-owned culinary businesses, and restaurant Leah & Louise, will re-open next Wednesday in South End after a two-year hiatus. 

The Black-owned restaurant’s name comes from its location and brunch-style menu items. It will also have southern-style dishes like Leah & Louise.

The eatery’s new space, a 3,200-square-foot building, is located at 1220 S. Tryon St and features a mural by local muralist Garrison Gist.

Uptown Yolk’s menu includes coffee-braised steak, diced sweet potatoes, waffles and other specialty items like Tennessee Fries –cheese-smothered sweet potato fries.

Certain items will be limited time-specials and only available once a year, like the house Tiramisu pancakes.

“We believe Uptown Yolk to be a phenomenal restaurant that happens to serve breakfast versus a breakfast restaurant,” Greg Collier said. 

The restaurant will be open Wednesday-Sunday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
