A $500,000 donation from the Gambrell Foundation will help the Charlotte Museum of History preserve a key piece of Charlotte’s Black history.
Siloam School was built in the early 1900s to educate Black children during the era of Jim Crow segregation. Today, its weatherbeaten remains still stand.
The Charlotte Museum of History set out to raise $1 million to move and restore the dilapidated structure. The Gambrell Foundation donation helped the museum surpass that goal.
