Mexican authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a suspect in the death of Shanquella Robinson, a Charlotte woman who died under mysterious circumstances while vacationing in Mexico, a Mexican prosecutor told ABC News .
The warrant was issued for one of Robinson’s friends, who has been described as “the direct aggressor” in events that occurred on Oct. 29, the prosecutor said.
The name of the suspect has not been released, ABC News and WSOC reported.
Robinson, 25, made national news after she died Oct. 29 in the Mexican resort city of Cabo San Lucas, where she had gone with six friends the previous day.

In interviews with several news outlets, Robinson’s parents have said others on the trip blamed their daughter’s death on alcohol poisoning. An autopsy report listed the cause of death as “severe spinal cord injury and atlas luxation,” or instability of the upper vertebrae.
On Nov. 16, a video that has since gone viral surfaced on social media showing a person attacking who appears to be Robinson.
QCity Metro is unable verify when or where the video in question was recorded at this time.
To date, the authorities have not confirmed whether any fatal injuries occurred during the incident shown on video.
The mystery behind her death has led to the public’s request for answers.
Last week, the FBI and Mexican authorities announced that they were both investigating Robinson’s death.
The FBI field office in Charlotte would not comment on the arrest warrant when reached by the Observer late Wednesday. In a response, a spokesperson said: “Our investigation is completely separate from Mexico, I am not privy to anything they are doing.”
