Arrest warrant issued for suspect in death of Shanquella Robinson

Mexican authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a suspect in the death of Shanquella Robinson, a Charlotte woman who died under mysterious circumstances while vacationing in Mexico, a Mexican prosecutor told ABC News .

The warrant was issued for one of Robinson’s friends, who has been described as “the direct aggressor” in events that occurred on Oct. 29, the prosecutor said.

The name of the suspect has not been released, ABC News and WSOC reported.

Robinson, 25, made national news after she died Oct. 29 in the Mexican resort city of Cabo San Lucas, where she had gone with six friends the previous day.

In interviews with several news outlets, Robinson’s parents have said others on the trip blamed their daughter’s death on alcohol poisoning. An autopsy report listed the cause of death as “severe spinal cord injury and atlas luxation,” or instability of the upper vertebrae.

On Nov. 16, a video that has since gone viral surfaced on social media showing a person attacking who appears to be Robinson.
